Todd's Birthday

Todd's birthday turned out to be such a fun and nice day outside! He had really been wanting to walk across the Harbour Bridge so thats what we decided to do. It took a little preparation finding out which buses we needed to take but we managed it alright! It took 2 buses to get to the entrance of the walkway but it was well worth it. The views from the bridge were absolutely beautiful.
Jett wasn't that impressed though...as always! Haha!

I LOVE SYDNEY!!

Birthday Boy
After our walk into Circular Quay we went and had a picnic in the Botanic Gardens. We tried to get a family pic but with the timer on the camera and a wiggly little Jett these are the best we came up with:

Ahh well. After we got home I surprised Todd by calling most of his family (I had to prepare and time it all out because of the time differences) so they could wish him a happy birthday. I think I made him a cake too but it turned out really flat...so more like a pancake. Haha! This was a really great day though and I'm pretty sure I'll always remember it!

26 on the 26th!

26 already?? I feel like it was just yesterday when you were turning 22. Remember- we were dating and I snuck into your apartment early in the morning and set up your birthday presents all cute on the table so you would be surprised when you woke up? Those were the good ol' days...but do you know what? These days that we are having right now are even better. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TODDLES! To celebrate I thought it would be fitting to list 26 reasons why you are so dang cool.

Warning: the content below may be incredibly cheesy and sappy which is the way my honeybuns likes it!

1. You are ALWAYS positive and happy. I admire this so much. Thanks for balancing me out when I have those nasty mood swings.
2. If you don't know the lyrics to a song (which is most of the time) you can make up some on the spot that actually sound like they could be the actual lyrics. Most of the time they rhyme and everything!
3. You are the only one who can make Jett giggle uncontrollably (is that a word?).
4. You are the only one who can make me giggle uncontrollably.
5. You had all the girls swooning after you did the POP dance at a stake single adult dance while you were in the bishopric.
6. Old ladies LOVE you.
7. You are all mine.
8. You grew up in Santa Barbara (How awesome is that?) and that gives us lots of chances to visit.
9. You make the best salsa.
10. You are always willing to give up your free time for others.
11. You never complain.
12. You listen to me when I complain.
13. You are everything I'm not!
14. You gave me the excuse to come to Australia and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
15. You are the greatest cook although you like pepper way too much :-)
16. You trained for/completed a marathon with me.
17. You love to give church talks/lessons. That is an awesome talent.
18. You love to read and learn about church doctrine and symbolism.
19. You look sexy with Australian scruff. :-)
20. You work so hard for our family and would do anything to make sure we got by.
21. Your enthusiasm for life makes me happy.
22. You still tell me you love me like 5 million times a day.
23. You are older than me so it still makes me feel young.
24. You are a goofball and you can make me laugh almost anytime.
25. Your smile makes me melt.
26. We get to build our lives together! Who knows what this next year will hold?! I don't but I know that if we can get through this last year we can do ANYTHING together. Happy Birthday, Todd! I love you!

Winter Break

Our winter break has come to a close. It has sure been cold, cold, cold! We take every nice day we can to go outside but I never dreamed Sydney could get this cold. Our little Jett is becoming more independent by the day. He is loads of fun. If the tv remote is ever within reach, he has it and loves to change the channels. He also loves to sleep with a blanket covering his head. I really don't like this habit and try to move the blanket so he can get some air but its hard to not wake him in the process. He drinks so much milk, its incredible! He loves to find time to be silly with Daddy.

Todd has already had his LAST first day of school! We are beyond excited! I can already tell that this semester is going to be a LOT busier than the first.

Visit from Grandma Holbrook

I know it has been so long since I posted. I think when I know I have a big post to do I get overwhelmed and keep putting it off since its such a pain to upload pics. Well I think I finally figured out the easiest way to do it! Use Picasa...so easy. I wish I would have figured that out a long time ago. Get ready for a picture overload. At the beginning of July my wonderful mother-in-law came and got the Sydney experience! Unfortunately it was pretty cold while she was here so we tried our best to stay bundled up and still go out and see all the sights. Its so nice to have family visit and I think she really enjoyed being here.

When she got here and unloaded her suitcase it was like Christmas! Jett seriously had outgrown all of his clothes so I had ordered a bunch from the states and sent them to Susan's house and she brought them with her. On top of that, she also got him some more clothes so he is set for the rest of our time here. I love seeing him in clothes that actually fit...no more holes in pajamas!

We had a lot of fun shopping and visiting the outdoor markets.
We stopped by Manly Beach...can't wait until its actually warm enough to go swimming!
Took a ferry ride...
Visited the Opera House...
Had a picnic at the Botanic Gardens...
Went to church...

(Jett always falls asleep on the way home)
Enjoyed some spectacular views...
Cuddled the koalas...(Susan's favorite part!)

(I love the look on Jett's face in this one)
Watched all the pretty butterflies at the Wildlife World...

Admired the amazing creatures at the Aquarium...
Walked around Todd's school...

Laughed at all the Asian tourists taking pictures of Jett...
Went to the world famous Bondi Beach on a freezing day (they had an ice rink set up right on the sand!)
Went on another ferry ride...
Saw even more animals at the Taronga Zoo...
Smiled at the cute little red pandas which are almost as cute as little Jett...
And enjoyed the last sunset from the comfort of our cozy little apartment. It was a great week filled with fun outings, awesome food, and most importantly...family! We are already getting excited to go home to the states and be closer to family. Less than 3 months left! Crazy!
