A New Beginning

I realize that it has been a very long while since we have posted anything on our blog. Believe me, I am kicking myself for that reason now! I had been working on posting a big entry with tons of pictures that we had taken in the last little while. However, I just saved it into a word document so that I could just paste it onto here when I got a chance. On Friday night, our computer hard drive failed. Out of the blue, our computer just froze up. We turned it off, but then we could not get it to restart properly. We took it over to the mac store and found out that the hard drive was toast. All of the pictures of our courtship, engagement, and newlywed lives are pretty much gone. All of our wedding pictures were saved onto CDs, so we have those, and we have the pictures that we saved onto facebook and this blog.
I was devastated! All of our pictures, documents, music, and some little movies we made were there one moment and then completely gone the next! I started bawling in the Mac store and the guy that was helping us started to get emotional too! He kept saying, "Please, don't cry" and then wiping his own eyes. He was awesome. He helped us get a new hard drive, installed it for us, and then downloaded a newer version of mac software for us...and only charged us for the hard drive. The new software has a built in program called "Time Machine" that backs up our documents automatically. All we need to get is an external hard drive. We will be needing that!! We will not make the same mistake twice!
This picture was one of the few I had on my camera (I just downloaded a ton of photos before this ordeal and then deleted them off my camera). We had our first snow last week and it was beautiful for the hours that it lasted! I love it when there is a fresh sheet of snow on the ground! It just feels so NEW and FRESH. I guess thats how we are feeling about our computer now! We have to start over with pictures and downloading all of our programs! I know that I am going to spend a lot more time blogging now! I've learned my lesson!
Todd here, now, and I just wanted to say that I am so glad Christianne put at least some pictures on our blog and on Facebook! It really was a terrible day. But things are getting better. We have a nasty two weeks of school ahead of us and we are hoping we make it till Thanksgiving! Things should be a bit easier then. That is...until we have to study for finals! Other than that, Christianne has been teaching me how to play Sudoku. I stink. It takes me a half hour to do an "easy" one, while she gets done with it in a matter of minutes. I'm so glad I married such a smart girl!

that stinks, chris!! My computer completely died at the beginning of the semester.. i ended up having to get a new one because it wasn't worth the amount it would have cost to fix it.. I feel your pain!!!

Good luck finishing out the semester!

Bummer about the computer. Did you guys get a second opinion? Derek has a friend that is pretty good at pulling data from dead hard drives.

Oh my goodness! That's so awful! I would have been sobbing too! I remember I deleted one picture once, and I'm still sad about it--I can't imagine a whole hard drive! It's good to see a new pic of you two! Have fun!
