23 on the 23rd

Todd is now officially on his first week break from school. Too bad it is a very rainy day today. No beach for us but we are determined to purchase a vacuum. Most stores are closed though because there are a billion Easter holidays during this time and everything just kinda shuts down! On Thursday Todd had a bunch of assignments due that he had to hand in at the University so we made a day of it and all went to school with him. It is an awesome bus ride that takes you over the Harbour Bridge and through the heart of Sydney. Its amazing how many people are out walking on the streets. It is so busy. We walked through campus and its definitely not like BYU! Jett was the only baby I saw there. Whenever Todd tells classmates that he has a wife and a child they are very surprised.

We also went into the city and went "shopping." We found ourselves in this huge mall composed of high-end designer stores. They also had the grand opening of this store called Zara which is really popular and there was a huge line of people just waiting to go inside. I have found one clothing store I like that is actually affordable but other than that the next best things are Target and Kmart! On Friday everything was shut down for Good Friday. We couldn't even go to the grocery store. We did make it down to Balmoral in the evening and it was beautiful! We let Jett loose to crawl around which he loved of course.


Saturday was my birthday! Todd made the day so special for me. I can't believe I'm 23 already. It just seems like yesterday when I was 18 and I just started dating Todd. Where did the time go? Well anyways I'm glad I have a whole year ahead of me before I get any older! Todd had to go to the grocery store in the morning but he came back with all sorts of goodies. It was cloudy and gloomy all day which ruined our plans to go to the beach at noon so we just hung around and played card games while Jett napped. Then I got to skype with my parents and Todd got the cake and ice cream ready and they got to sing Happy Birthday while we ate! I got some really fun gifts too! Meggy got me Amazon MP3 credit so I could get Taylor Swifts album. Of course I listened to it all day!
Todd had these cute gold envelopes that he would give me throughout the day with a sweet note followed by a present. In the morning I got a nice lotion set. In the afternoon I got a book about Will and Kate and their love story. Its actually the perfect souvenier since everyone here is really into this royal wedding thing. I'm sure we will be watching it.
Hauni sent me these beautiful earrings that she got from an etsy seller here in Sydney. They are calla lillies! Love them. Oh and in the picture you can see my favorite chocolates sitting on the couch. I love cadburry.
This was the only time during the day that we saw any blue sky. Below is my half eaten dessert. Many of you know that angel food cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberries is ALWAYS my birthday dessert. Todd did his best with the cake since angel food cake wasnt an option here. It turned out more like a pancake but it was still really good! Jett liked it too!

In the evening Todd and I got a babysitter and were able to go into the city by ourselves for a few hours. We took the ferry to circular quay and walked around for awhile before going out to eat.




It was a beautiful night. The restaurant was really nice so I didn't take a picture of our food. I was too busy trying to figure out what silverware to use. We ordered a seafood platter for our appetiser and I tried some of everything including oysters (eww), squid (eww),soft shell crab, scallops, salmon, and prawns. I was glad to try everything but it wasn't my favorite. It all tasted and smelled like seawater. Our mains were amazing though! I had wagyu steak and Todd had lamb steak. Todd also gave me some pretty earrings at dinner. Talk about romantic, right? My goodness I am lucky!!I love you babe. Thanks for making my day so special.

Late that night though I found myself puking over the toilet. I suspect food poisoning from the shellfish. Oh well, I don't regret trying new things! Only one more month until more birthday fun. Can't wait for Jett to turn 1!
